C., SATURDAY, FEB. 6, 1943 Major Davenport Home Major W. Kyle Davenport, Jr., of the U. S. Marines, and son of Mr. and Mrs. W. K. Davenport of Landrum arrived home Fri day noon after 18 months in the jg^ific islands. Major Davenport the trip by ship to San ^^ncisco then went to Los An geles to take an airplane for Co lumbus, Ohio, where his plane was grounded on account of bad weath er. He rode the train from Co lumbus to Landrum where his wife and year-old son, W. K., Ill, were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Daven port, Sr, Major Davenport had never seen his son, who was born six months after the major sailed for the Pacific islands. Only one other member of the family was needed for a family reunion and that was Lieut. John D. (Jack) Davenport, who is now flying bombers in North Africa. Major Davenport will be here for several days. Mrs. Blanchard to Address B^itist Missionary Society Tryon First Baptist church iSKonary Society will meet on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 at the home of Mrs. R. E. Brantley. Mrs. B. B. Bobo will be in charge of the program and Mrs. R. W. Blanchard will be the guest speaker. Sunday School Renewed At the Episcopal Church Sunday school services will he resumed at the Church of the Holy Cross on Sunday morning at 9:20 o’clock, under the direction of Dr. Warren W. Way.
